~ on the little manistee ~
North Rivers Lodge is a fly fishing and paddlesport vacation destination on the spring-fed headwaters of the Little Manistee River.
Nestled in the heart of the surrounding Manistee National Forest, the restored early 20th Century log cabins overlook a peaceful spring creek setting. These historic cabins embody the rustic charm of old “Up North” Michigan.
We offer traditional dry fly fishing for native brook, resident rainbow and wild brown trout. Fly fishing schools, casting lessons and guided trips are available upon appointment. Miles of trails can be explored by hiking, mountain biking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobile or ATV. Trails are accessible directly from the lodge.
We are centrally located in Michigan’s river country. Canoe, kayak or raft. The nearby Pere Marquette, Pine, Manistee and Big Sable Rivers (along with their cold, spring-fed tributaries) are all just minutes away. So many streams to explore!
The classic architecture and rustic charm of our early 20th Century cedar log cabins hearken back to a simpler time when sportsmen would retreat to Michigan’s northwoods and rivers to seek solitude through wilderness getaways to fish, hunt and explore.
The resident trout population, makes for outstanding dry fly fishing. Spectacular rainbows, well-fed browns and vividly-colored brook trout rise to the prolific insect hatches which sustain the exceptional trout fishery that is the Little Manistee.
Paddlers of all skill levels, whether fast-paced kayakers or the more traditional canoeist, will find their challenge by taking advantage of the natural resources in every direction throughout the miles of rivers in the Lake Michigan watershed. True river country!
The Lodge is surrounded by miles of Manistee National Forest trails. Groomed trails are a top destination for the snowmobiler. The trails are accessible directly from the lodge. There is also a place here for the cross-country skier and snow shoer as well.
The famed Pere Marquette River is 10 minutes south, the fabled Manistee River is just 20 minutes to the north, headwaters of the swift and scenic Pine River are just 5 minutes to the east, and the classic Hex waters of the Big Sable River are just a short drive to the west. Public access to all rivers and trails is generous.
